Our History

Dr. Renée Melfi has been providing comprehensive treatment of spine and musculoskeletal conditions since 2004 in Central New York. Dr. Melfi was the first fellowship-trained Interventional Physiatrist in Syracuse and was the first spine specialist to become board certified in Integrative Medicine in the area. Regenerative Spine & Musculoskeletal Medicine has grown into an innovative practice, leading the way in integrative spine and musculoskeletal care.

Our Specialty

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians, or Physiatrists, are nerve, muscle, bone, and brain experts who treat injury or illness non-surgically to decrease pain and restore function. The Physiatric approach to patient care looks at the whole person and not just one symptom or condition (aapmr.org).

The sub-specialty of Interventional Physiatry uses image-guided needle placement for the delivery of medication in order to diagnose or treat a number of condition affecting the spine or other areas of the musculoskeletal system.

Regenerative Injection Therapy (RIT)

At Regenerative Spine & Musculoskeletal Medicine we offer new and exciting options known as “Regenerative Injection Therapy” (RIT). Injections such as Prolotherapy, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Therapy harness the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. Regenerative Injection Therapy injections offer an exciting alternative to steroid injection therapy.

The Regenerative Spine & Musculoskeletal Medicine team knows that injuries can be serious and frustrating. We want to make sure we help you return to work in a safe and timely fashion. Our staff has close relationships with many local case managers, employers, healthcare providers, and insurers to help coordinate the highest quality of care. Our providers have had specialized training in workers compensation cases and will help you navigate through, what can often be, a complicated process. We provide a level of personalized care which can be lost in large institutions.
