It has been highly successful in treating women’s stress and urge incontinence issues. The O-Shot® can help prevent further embarrassing accidents and allow you to live life to the fullest.
What is the O-Shot®?
The O-Shot® is a safe, natural way to help women suffering from urinary stress and urge incontinence or sexual dysfunction. This non-surgical procedure uses PRP (click here to see “What is PRP”) from your own blood to rejuvenate your vaginal and clitoral tissue, which improves sexual function. Many women struggle with the frustration and embarrassment of sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence. Growth factors within the PRP rejuvenate and restore weakened muscular/erectile tissue near the urethra, allowing improved ability to retain urine. If not treated, urinary incontinence can worsen with age. Finally, there is hope using an approach that is safe, effective, and it is for women!
Who can the O-Shot® benefit?
The O-Shot® is not just for women with sexual difficulties, but can also help those who want to enhance their sexual experience, and/or assist with urinary incontinence issues.
If you are experiencing:
- Decreased sexual desire (libido)
- Difficulty/inability to orgasm
- Painful sex (dyspareunia)
- Decreased vaginal lubrication
- Damaged tissues after giving birth
- Those with lichen sclerosis
- Urinary stress or urge incontinence
How is the O-Shot® performed and does it hurt?
A simple blood draw is performed, then the blood is spun in a centrifuge to obtain the plasma and platelets, known as Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP. While this is happening, a numbing cream is applied to the female sexual organs. Dr. Melfi will then complete a lidocaine block. You may feel an initial slight pinch or warmth sensation with the lidocaine block, but overall there is minimal to no pain. The use of these anesthetics will make the actual procedure comfortable and virtually pain free! The PRP is then carefully and specifically injected into the appropriate female sexual organs which will assist with sexual function and urinary control. The actual procedure only takes about 10-15 minutes.
How can the O-Shot® help with urinary stress and urge incontinence?
Stress incontinence can happen to women of all ages and can occur for a variety of reasons. Have you experienced urinary accidents when you cough, sneeze, laugh or exercise? The O-Shot® is highly successful in treating stress and urge incontinence as the growth factors within the PRP have been found to help increase collagen formation and blood flow which can restore weakened tissue near the urethra, allowing for improved urine retention.
When will I notice results?
Some patients will notice improvement in their sexual health and desire the same day. Many patients find results are more noticeable within 3 weeks of the procedure for both sexual function and urinary control and this typically continues to improve. These positive results typically last 12-18 months or longer depending on the severity of the issues prior to the O-Shot®. Some patients chose to have a “tune-up” sooner or more frequently.
Is there any downtime after having the O-Shot®?
You will be given post-procedure instructions, however there really is no downtime after having the O-Shot®. You can resume sexual relations that day as soon as the anesthetic has worn off.
